Pashupatinath - where DEATH is celebrated!!

"PASHUPATINATH"  means Lord of Pashu, Shiva himself ( animals, including humans), we are the deadliest!! It was this moment which I waited for many years to visit Pashupatinath, finally things got unfolded mysteriously and I landed in Nepal last year 2019. The only objective to plan for Nepal was to visit Pashupatinath and Muktinath..

It was early morning flight from Delhi and I happened to land in Kathmandu,Nepal around 10 am morning. Fantastic climate, lovely food and lovable people, all was there..but I was in search of something else.. In the afternoon I happen to visit Shaktipeeth Guhesywari Temple and post that started climbing a hill , reached to the top of Gorakshnath temple and finally reached to a place from where we can see Lord Pashupatinath temple on the banks of river Bagmati.

Gorakshnath was one  of the powerful nath from navnath ( Nine saints) and disciple of Machhindranath ( he was more of shiva himself). Navnath's belong to shaiva sect and worship lord shiva! Anyone can become Shiva , you and me anyone can become shiva! Shiva means moving from desires to divinity, from passionate to dispassionate, from body to soul!! You will find  many Gorakshi's ( disciples of goraknath) in Pashupatinath and there samadhis in this place.

You will find plenty of information on internet pertaining to this temple; but what I have seen was the truth of life in front of me, it was a cremation ground on the banks of the river!! Death and life was residing together at pashupatinath, its not only at the temple, in reality also, death resides with us all the time, but due to our non acceptance, we live in ignorance of the truth, the day you start accepting the truth you will start seeing the world with different perspective. The day you accept that you are mortal, you will start enjoying this piece of life.

Pashupatinath is the abode of lord shiva, who is the creator and the destroyer as well. The five faces of Pashupatinath represents various incarnations of Shiva: Sadyojata,Vamdeva,Tatpurusha,Aghor and Ishana. Its actually four faces, Ishana physically doesnt exist, its at meta physical level . Every face has its own importance with the rituals you want to perform.

Shiva is the destroyer! He sits at the cremation ground, he is the source of your true consciousness, life and death is just a play for him, his existence is way beyond this play and he also want us to work towards it. Thats why he is called Adiyogi as well, the first person to show you the true face of your existence.

Brahma created this universe and was very much proud of his creation! He created humans, animals, trees, stones, mountains and everything which exists in nature. Shiva happen to see everything and was not happy at all; he saw misery everywhere, he saw people living life of ignorance, people unhappy with themselves and trying  to deceive and cheat others for their foolish desires. Thats how he decide to show humans there true face of existence and thats how Yoga and meditation( Union of body mind and soul) techniques were introduced. The only purpose of human life is to understand this divinity, rest all is illusionary.

I met lot of Aghoris and naga sadhus in pashupatinath, they normally dont interact with humans, for them we are just a piece of life and its true in many sense. Many of us born and die without actually knowing the purpose of life. They think what they see is life and never ever gave a thought of what exists beyond. Billions have been spent by scientists to understand life beyond earth, my question is have you ever understood your life first?

Naga sadhus are always involved in there rituals and have set plan of actions throughout the day and night. Aghoris too work on the same lines. There has been lot of misconceptions on the way these sect of people operate and I think its not right. This is normally because humans are prone to be more logical in their approach and always map things based on their perceptions and experiences. But where logic ends, spirituality is born, you have to keep aside your logical mind to become more receptive towards divine. These sects of people are normally disciplined, they dont interfere with human life and are always absorbed by divinity.

The entire area of Pashupatinath is of naga sadhus and aghoris; For them body is just the source to reach the ultimate consciouness, and its true!

Om namah Shivay!! Om namah Shivay!! Om namah Shivay!!

Is the mantra you will hear in the surroundings! What does it actually means? You bow to yourself, the masterpiece created by divine, he is within us! and  you bow to him! No need to search him in different places , in temples , in churches, in mosques or anyhwere else!!

Dead bodies kept on coming for cremation at river bagmati, the two spiritual places of Shiva where such things happen are Manikarnika ghat,Kashi,India and Pashupatinath, Kathmandu,Nepal. Sitting at these places, you will realize how futile your life is.. On what grounds you owe whatever you have? Its just an illusion, all your desires, goals , your existence itself becomes a big question mark. Have you sat beside a dead body? and seen the cremation ceremony? you will come to know that your name has value only with the life within, or else it becomes "body", everyone starts calling it as a body once the life moves out !! Yes, and your name that is also not yours, it has been given by your biological parents! So what you owe! Big question to think!!

While I was around pashupatinath, I saw cremation of  well known person ( looking at the crowd I thought so) from Kathmandu at the banks of river Bagmati, around thousand to two thousand crowd was besides him for few hours and then they  moved!! Post that there was no difference between him and other cremations happening around! Everything goes, nothing remains with you, what remains is only ASHES!!

Silence is what you will receive in Pashupatinath! Its the only attribute that will take your deeper of your own existence. Cremation grounds is the place where you will realise your true value! Visit Pashupatinath to celebrate Death!!

Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim
pustivardhanam Uruvarukavim bandhana,
mrityumokish Mamratat!!
