Shaktipeeth - Bhagavathy Amman Temple,Kanyakumari, source of boundless energy!!

Bhagavathy Amman!!

"Amman" means divine mother which is the source of energy for all of us. She is within all of us, her forms might be different, from Kali to Durga to Mahalaxmi to Linga bhairavi but she is everywhere, from small villages to large cities, from different regions to different communities. Remember, all are manifestation of single source, of that boundless energy which gives us our existence. Every goddess in our country is worshipped in different ways and in different forms.
Kali Pooja has its particular rituals while Laxmi /Durga pooja are worshipped in other ways.

If Shiv is the soul , then parvati is the energy, if vishnu is the protector then laxmi is the giver, if mahakal is the lord of kal ( time), mahakali is the bond destroyer!! Shiv Shakti/Vishnu laxmi are the union which makes us thrive through this universe. For any one of us, you can feel the difference in energies in different temples. If you visit any Devi temple, the vibrancy and the energy levels are too high! Celebrations are at peak.Thats devi for you! Only Shiva can pacify that energy, thats why you see Shiva lying at the foot of Mahakali to control her boundless energy.

Do understand that any feminine energy manifestation are just the purest forms of  energies, its nothing to do with good or bad, right or wrong ,they are just raw as it seems, shiva ( self consciounsess) can only guide us on the way it has to be handled, we goal driven humans utlize and channelize those energies for our selfish motives, thats how various tantra vidya have originated. In reality, we dont need any fast, hom havan to please any goddess, complete surrender is the only way.

At the tip of southern most of our country, Kanyakumari - lies this beautiful temple of Bhagavathy Amman. This was my first time to visit kanyakumari in this birth as part of my journey on spiritual quest. Amman is controlling this huge Indian Ocean , the vast bay of bengal and the magnificient Arabian sea at her banks. The temple lies exactly on the seashore with wind flowing at unbearable speed. Our visit to Vivekananda rock memorial got cancelled  for two days due to heavy winds, not a single boat was there at the shore. Imagine, we all say we are the "doers" I would say we are just the "movers'' as per the divine call. If single boat cant move with divine permission, then imagine about us ,we are just the tresspassers.

The Amman temple as such is one of the beautiful architectural beauty with stone carvings inside and huge mandapam. As I said earlier, photography is strictly prohibited in the southern india temple premises and I feel thats rightly done. Most of the temples in Southern part of country are well preserved and right code of conducts are there to maintain the purity. It was in the evening time we entered into the premises, heavy winds were around and the atmosphere was mystic. Once we entered, all the males had to go with bare bodies ( removing shirts and T shirts) to show respect towards the goddess.

Bhagavathy Amman temple is one of the 52 shaktipeetams! shaktipeetams means places where body parts of Shakti ( Sati) fallen down across india when Shiva carried her on his shoulders post her sacrifice in yagn (place where fire is created and offerings are made to fire to invoke the deity). In Kanyakumari, it is said that the right shoulder and spine of goddess has fallen, thats why you see people meditating in the devi's premises, have tears in their eyes, their kundalini gets activated and many of us also feel upsurge of energies from muladhara chakra to sashtra chakra. Lord pashurama has consecrated this temple and Ramakrishna parmahansa asked swami vivekananda to meditated at this place. Many yogis and Rishis have done penance at this place.

Consecration means creating energies in that particular area/idol through divine support and using life energies, its not an easy task, it needs lot of penance and divine guidance to do so, its not a job of people who are entangled in worldly needs. A separate blog can be written on " Consecration".

The core temple area will make you feel the life within you. Beautiful idol garlanded with flowers and lamps will pacify your thoughts. As I said earlier, Kumkum is given as prasad in all the devi temples, kumkum depicts vitality and energy. If you see, when your energies are at the different places in your body, you are in different states of mind. Most of the time our energies are at the muladhara chakra whose controller is Lord Ganesh, he take care of all our basic worldly needs, thats why his importance is more and he is worshipped before every other deity. All of the temples of Devi and Shiv, has lord ganesh at the entrance, because only with his grace we can move ahead in our spiritual path.

Just sit in the gabhara ( core)  for few minutes in front of Bhagvathy Amman and you will see upsurge of energy within your body. Surrender her to the fullest and nothing will fall short in your life. Frankly, we need nothing, its our mind who has created all this illusions taking us away from the real truth. For everyone of us, only one thing is required, that is love towards divine!!

In our male dominated society, the importance to male ( shiv/vishnu) is given more, but the truth is that male is powerless without female ( Shakti) to move ahead on materialistic and spiritual path. Feminine energy give you the life as she is the prakriti, without her shiv cant be reached. Respect, love and humility is required to receive her grace. Any community, society or group where women are treated with love and respect,  they always pass through this life with grace and happiness.
